There are few things in life harder than finding the perfect foundation. With so much choice out there, it’d take us a lifetime to get through all the gorge options. You have to think about what your skin needs, what finish you want, then whether it’s for everyday wear, occasion wear, your going out out look. There’s SO much to think about. They need to tick every box, while I haven’t found THE perfect foundation, there’s some that I’m just obsessed with. Here are six of my favourite, and the best foundations of all time.
Mac Studio Fix
Here it is, my ride or die foundation, the one I always gravitate back to. I wore this for my debs, and still, eight years later I have a whole lot of love for it. Everyone has probably tried Mac Studio Fix at least once in their lives, but for a pretty good reason too. A gorgeous matte finish and medium to full buildable coverage that’s long-lasting and not too heavy on the skin. Along with that, it applies, builds and blends easily and evenly. One foundation that will always have a place in my makeup bag!
Fenty Beauty PRO FILT’R Hydrating Longwear Foundation
Admittedly, until a few months ago, I was a Fenty Beauty virgin. Since I tried the foundation (and the eyeshadows, for that matter) I now completely understand the hype. This foundation blends into your skin like an absolute dream, it feels light and natural on the skin but still delivers pretty impressive medium to full coverage. A little goes a long way, especially if you’re after a more natural look than full-on full coverage. It’s not matte, but it’s not exactly dewy either – it’s somewhere in the middle, to give a more natural look to the skin. Divine, definitely makes me want to try a bit of everything when it comes to Fenty Beauty.
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless
I treated myself to this when I was rushing around buying last-minute Christmas presents, and it’s now my go-to foundation for nights out or special occasions. As you can imagine, just before Christmas, Arnotts was mental, so I ended up walking out with the wrong shade in that little blue bag. While it’s a little too dark, it’s not the end of the world because once I have my concealer and brightening powder on, it all comes together. This baby is all about the coverage, without feeling caked on your skin. It feels fab on the skin, lasts perfectly and just leaves a gorgeous finish on the skin. Like a second skin, only with zero blemishes and a whole lot smoother. B E A uuuutiful. Simply one of the best foundations out there. Can Charlotte even do any wrong?
Huda Beauty #Fauxfilter
I haven’t worn this foundation in a while, but when I decided to pop it on the other day, I immediately remembered how much I love it. It’s not exactly an everyday foundation, but perfect for when you’re going out-out (ah, remember going out-out?). This foundation doesn’t play around when it comes to coverage. Think Double Wear kind of coverage, but not as dated (dare I say). A little goes a long way with this, blends beautifully, and lasts as long as you can bear the Coppers dance floor. The only thing I will say about it is that if you’re after a second skin kind of foundation, this one isn’t for you. You can really feel it on your skin, which understandably, a lot of people don’t like. But trust me, if you can push through the first little while – you won’t notice it after a while. So if you’re looking for a foundation that literally packs a punch, get your hands on a tester of this.
I’ve been using L’Oreal True Match for as long as I can remember. Probably even longer than Mac Studio Fix. For a budget-friendly foundation, you can’t get much better. It feels light on the skins, blends easily, and has a nice medium coverage without being too overpowering. Plus, it lasts all day (but you will need a powder top up if you’re an oily gal) and leaves a gorgeous finish on the skin. You’re getting a whole lot for the price you pay, so worth it.
Maybelline Dream Radiant Liquid Hydrating Foundation
I only started using this foundation a few months ago, but I loved it straight away. Another bargain buy, but one of the best foundations. This Maybelline beauty is all about a luminous finish. It’s like a second skin, so comfortable on your face with a sheer to medium coverage. Previously known as Dream Satin Liquid, it has since had a makeover with added skincare ingredients, like hyaluronic acid and collagen. So it delivers up to 12 hours of hydration and looks fab – what else could you ask for?
