I’ve reviewed most of these tans that I’m going to talk about (I love a good tan, so I obviously love talking about them too!), but there’s no harm in throwing them all into one post. 🙂 These are shorter reviews, but the longer ones will be linked too if you’d like a read! So I went through what tans are in my bathroom drawers, and these are the good and the bad. Actually, there was a few more gradual tanning moisturisers, but I’m going to keep it to instant and over night tans. A few of the reviews are about the brand in general, and a few are just about one of their products. So if you’re a fan of a bit of fake tan, have a flick through this. 🙂
I’m the biggest Bellamianta fan right now. I’m loving EVERYTHING they have, like I’m borderline scarily obsessed. Their dark lotion is my new absolute favourite tan in the world right now. It dries quickly, fades evenly, doesn’t stink and the colour is just amazing. I’ve a full review of my old favourite, their dark mousse here. Then a full review of their latest three products here! 🙂
I used this for my debs years ago and fell in love with it all over ago a few months ago. It’s easy to apply, fades evenly and the colour is amazing. I love the dark liquid *heart eye emoji* You can take a read of the full review here. 🙂
Insanity Dark Mousse
I tried out a few bits from the Insanity range a while ago and fell in love with their Bronzing Mousse. I’ve a review written on the rest of the range here as well as a few more details on the mousse. Whenever I wore the bronzing mousse I got so many compliments on the colour of my tan – well, like five but still! If you love a dark tan you’ll absolutely love the colour of this.
I just love the packaging of James Read products! This tan is usually about €40 I think, so when I saw it in TK Maxx for €20 I had to buy it. The colour is amazing after a few hours and it feels super moisturising on. It’s a bit difficult to put on because there’s no colour guide. It’s a lovely tan, but I wouldn’t pay €40 for it. I’m not sure if I’d pay €20 for it actually! Just because I’d rather go for a tan I can’t fault for that price.
Tantastic Medium Lotion
I was sent this tan last year and absolutely loved it. I wouldn’t usually go for a medium shade but it’s such a nice colour. It’s more of a dark medium, but not too dark for a medium shade either. Am I making sense? It’s a fab tan! It’s not too expensive either, and I usually see it on offer in Sam McCauley’s too. Definitely worth a buy.
NKD Pre-Shower Tan
This turned out a lot nicer than I thought it would be. I wasn’t keen on the idea, because I’m used to leaving my tan on overnight. But it’s actually fab. You can’t really see where you’re applying it, so that’s not great but it actually feels amazing on. Like even when you’re showering it off it feels so soft and moisturising. It’s a nice natural colour, but not too natural either.
Cocoa Brown Instant Gels
These are ideal for when you’re in a hurry. It doesn’t transfer too easily, so simple to just throw on and they’re a lovely colour. They’re super natural, especially the matte version. I’d actually prefer them a small bit darker, so I think they’re great for topping up a bit of faded tan. I love the shimmer version, it’s amazing.
& Just No…
Cocoa Brown Extra Dark
Cocoa Brown used to be my absolute go to tan. I was so excited for the extra dark shade, but I’m not a fan of this at all. I put up a first impressions post a couple of months ago, but now I don’t think I’ll be buying it again. It doesn’t wear off great and it was actually very hard to remove, it took an awful lot of scrubbing! I’ll just stick with the usual dark bottle from now on.
I’ve tried a few bits from Karora and I’m not a fan at all. Their mousse feels awful on, just sticky and horrible. The colour is actually lovely, but it wore off terribly and just went super patchy and the colour wasn’t as nice after a couple of days. Their instant tan is even worse. The colour wasn’t nice at all, if felt sticky and kind of slimy on and it basically just wiped off after like ten minutes. No thanks.
Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs
Sally Hansen tan just reminds me of being 15 covered head to toe in the spray version of Sally. I can actually still smell it… Anyway I was sent this out to try and wasn’t too excited because, well, above. I’m not a massive fan of this, it’s a lot better than the aul spray but I wouldn’t actually spend money on this. It was grand for when I decided to go out and had to throw a bit of tan on my legs or ankles – but it was absolutely disgusting the next morning. Maybe that’s just me thought because I’ve seen plenty of gals wearing a bit of Sally now and it looks fab. But no thankssssss.
So they’re most of the tan products I have right now, it’s never enough!
Has anyone loved or hated any of these?
