If you’ve read any of my previous posts (like ‘8 Things I’m Obsessed With Right Now’), you’ll know that I love Winter (for the most part!) and the fab clothes that come with it. I love layering up with massive scarves that could pass as a blanket, getting away with wearing fluffy socks under your favourite boots and that I can get away with wearing darker colours almost 24/7. So, I thought I’d go through boots, knits, coats and all of the other absolute essentials for Winter. If you feel like treating yourself, all of the images are linked. 🙂
I’m starting with boots because they’re my absolute favourite. I don’t think it’s even possible to have enough boots. I’m obsessed, genuinely obsessed, with these Zara leather boots with the pearls. They’d be perfect for both day to night and look like they’d be super comfy too. I 100% need these in my life!
I’m also LOVING these red boots from River Island. They’re a suede effect with a pointy toe and I just love the colour. I wear so much black that I think these will just be ideal, all black with a fab pop of red, along with my hair that is! I have a black pair of boots very similar to these that I bought in RI a couple of years ago and they’re so comfy. So, hopefully these will be just as comfortable!
There’s nothing worse than getting out of bed on dark, freezing cold mornings. But it’s a little easier when you’re getting into a big, cosy knitted jumper. All these jumpers are on ASOS, I love how cosy they all look! What I actually need to pick up is a nice jumper dress, I love this grey one here. It’d be ideal to throw on in the mornings with tights and a pair of boots.
If I buy another coat my wardrobe will be just taken over with coats, so I really shouldn’t but I adore these two! This grey one from River Island is fab, although I seen a very similar one in Penneys for €37, less than half the price. One thing I think EVERYONE needs is a fab camel coat, they just go with everything and couldn’t be more versatile. I love this ASOS one, the zip detail on it is fab.
I just love layering up with cosy hats and scarves during the Winter – especially when the scarf is big enough to basically cover your whole body. I’ve been wanting to get a pair of leather gloves for a while now, but I’m loving these leather and ribbed ones in River Island. Layering is fab, but sometimes you’ll only end up sweating to death while running around and getting your bits done and nobody wants that! That’s why I think collars are so handy. Get the look of a cute shirt under your jumper without being way too warm by the time you get to where you’re going. Penneys do have such handy little collars, but I love love love this embellished one from ASOS.
Skincare and Makeup
Dewy skin and dark lips are ideal for Winter. All of the moisturiser, all of the highlighter and a fab dark lipstick *insert heart eye emoji here*.
I always find my skin dries up a bit more during Winter and my lips are just a whole other story. I’ve been using the BRYT Day Moisturiser lately and a Clarins one that I can’t remember the name of for the life of me right now. But finding your own perfect moisturiser is essential. If there’s one thing that I think everyone, EVERYONE, needs when it gets that bit colder is Carmex lip balm. There’s no explanation needed for that one. Even when I have my normal lipstick on I always pop a tiny bit on over my lipstick to keep them super soft.
I’m still on a coconut oil buzz. I’m using it for everything and when it starts to get colder I’ll probably be using it an awful lot more for when my skin/hair gets drier.
It’s also fab for taking care of your nails. Whether you have your own natural nails, or you get shellac or gel nails, rubbing a small bit of coconut oil into your cuticles a couple of times each day will save your life. Ok, an exaggeration, but it’ll keep your cuticles and your nails moisturised so that your nails aren’t peeling and are just a whole lot stronger. I keep a tub of coconut oil beside the kettle and pop a bit on when I’m waiting for the kettle to boil. A month later I’m definitely seeing a difference.
